1. Historical evolution

    The predecessor of the Environmental Design Department was the Environmental Design Direction of the Art and Design Department (established in 2004), which was the first batch of majors recruited by the Art College. In 2013, the Environmental Design Department of the Art and Design Department independently established the Environmental Design Department. In 2018, a Master's degree in Art and Design (Environmental Design Direction) was established. At present, there are 130 undergraduate students and 20 professional master's students on campus, with a total of over 1200 graduates cultivated. The department has the longest history of education and rich experience. This major is currently a well-known brand specialty with distinct characteristics in Anhui Province, and is currently a national first-class professional construction site application unit.

    2. Talent cultivation

    (1) Professional training objectives

     Cultivate and practice the core socialist values, adhere to the cultivation of morality and talent, adhere to the comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, beauty, and labor, be full of integrity and social responsibility, proficiently use modern information technology, master solid basic knowledge of art and design, possess proficient professional software operation ability, spatial design and production implementation ability, solid foundation, strong ability, high quality, innovative spirit, and entrepreneurial consciousness, High level applied specialized talents who meet the needs of economic and social development in the new era.

    (2) Professional training specifications and characteristics

   This major takes innovative design thinking as the core of teaching and training, emphasizes the combination of theory and practice, pays attention to the cultivation of practical operation ability, so that students can use space symbols to accurately convey architecture, environment and space, extract different cultural elements and effectively integrate into the design, and at the same time conform to the aesthetic taste of the public. Comprehensively and systematically explore the ideological and political content of courses, forming a synergistic effect between ideological and political courses and the same direction. Relying on the advantages of disciplines such as economics, management, and law in our school, we aim to cultivate high-level applied design talents who possess good creative thinking abilities, solid professional knowledge, as well as good humanistic literacy and design management abilities.

    (3) Professional core courses

    Professional basic courses: Introduction to Traditional Chinese Culture, Introduction to Art, Color, Modeling, Computer Aided Design, Fundamentals of Computer Graphics Processing, Application of Digital Generation of Graphics, Digital Representation of Images, Application of Digital Rendering of Images, etc.

Professional core courses: Chinese and foreign architectural history, Chinese and foreign design history, preliminary architectural design, interior design, landscape design, architectural drawing, perspective principle, ergonomics, environmental design performance techniques, etc.

    Interdisciplinary courses: Marketing, Public Relations, Professional Examination, Mass Communication, Advertising Creativity and Planning, etc.

Professional compulsory courses: exhibition design, garden design, garden aesthetics, architectural model design, public decorative art design, landscape sketch design, furniture design, special research, etc.

     3. Teaching team

    The teaching team of the Environmental Design Department has been designated as a provincial-level teaching team and school level teaching team by the Anhui Provincial Department of Education and Anhui University of Finance and Economics. There are currently 15 full-time teachers. The professional title structure is: 1 distinguished professor, 4 associate professors, 10 lecturers, and 1 Longhu scholar. There are 2 master's supervisors in fine arts, 5 master's supervisors in art, and 3 national social science evaluation experts. The educational structure is: 15 doctoral students (including current students), with a doctoral rate of 100%. There are 5 teachers with overseas study experience, and 95% of them are doctoral and master's teachers graduated from top universities such as 985 and 211. The structure of teaching titles is reasonable, and the classroom teaching effect is outstanding. All teachers in the team have been awarded the title of Excellent Instructor in various subject competitions multiple times. In the past three years, team teachers have won 4 awards from the National Social Science Foundation, 5 awards from provincial and ministerial level philosophy and social sciences, and multiple provincial and municipal level teaching and research achievement awards. At the same time, they have published more than 60 core journal papers such as SCI, A&HCI, and CSSCI, with significant results.

    4. Discipline competition

    The discipline competition is a professional feature of the Department of Environmental Design and has achieved fruitful results. The Department of Environmental Design advocates promoting education through competitions in teaching, actively organizing and hosting various disciplinary competitions. It has jointly hosted the provincial B-class competition Anhui Industrial Design Competition Science Popularization Man Cup Special Competition for three consecutive years. Since 2022, it has been officially authorized as the organizer of the national higher education competition Oriental Creative Star Competition in Anhui district. In the teaching process of our school's Environmental Design major, we promote the organic connection of the education chain, talent chain, and innovation chain, and achieve significant results in talent cultivation. In the past three years, students have won three national bronze prizes, three provincial gold prizes and three provincial silver prizes in the International Internet plus Competition. Students have won more than 300 national and provincial discipline competitions, 72 national and provincial innovation and entrepreneurship projects, published more than 40 papers, and nearly 100 patent achievements. The overall teaching quality and ranking are in the forefront of Anhui Province.

     5. School enterprise cooperation

    The Environmental Design Department has the highest level and quality professional internship base, in collaboration with Beijing Kepu Man Economic and Trade Co., Ltd., Anhui Huaimei Environmental Technology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Gefei Wood Decoration Design Co., Ltd., Shanghai Xindian Decoration Design Engineering Co., Ltd., Anhui Yu'an Laboratory Equipment Co., Ltd., Bengbu Yiyuan Decoration Engineering Co., Ltd., Shanghai Furui Exhibition and Exhibition Engineering Co., Ltd., Anhui Wanlu Ecological Culture Tourism Co., Ltd Anhui Meilian Decoration Design Engineering Co., Ltd., Longhu Landscape Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and other professional institutions have signed school enterprise cooperation agreements.

   The Environmental Design major actively explores new models of collaborative innovation between schools and enterprises. We have established the Gefei Wood Environmental Design Research and Development Center and the Xindian Soft Decoration Design Research Center with Shanghai Gefei Wood Decoration Design Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Xindian Decoration Co., Ltd. respectively, and jointly applied for 12 home product appearance patents with the enterprise, with a conversion amount of 500000 yuan. The Environmental Design Department has attracted investment, designed, and completed the construction of the Anhui University of Finance and Economics Art School Kepu Man Multi functional Smart Activity Center donated by Beijing Kepu Man Economic and Trade Co., Ltd. with an investment of 3.89 million yuan. They have jointly built the Kepu Man Innovation and Entrepreneurship Smart Incubation Base for College Students and established the Kepu Man Huaimei Technology R&D Center. For smart space and smart incubation base projects, scientific research, social services We have conducted comprehensive innovative research on talent cultivation and cultural inheritance, and have obtained 8 invention patents and 26 utility models. We have built a pour to pig WeChat mini program, and the results have been converted to millions of yuan.

    6. International Exchange

    There are relatively many international exchanges in the field of environmental design. Professors in the field of environmental design at Han Rui University in South Korea and Chungnam National University have all come to the university for exchanges. The faculty team has also conducted multiple exchanges and inspections in the field of environmental design at art universities in countries such as South Korea, Malaysia, Italy, France, and Germany, systematically promoting international exchanges among students. And multiple graduate students have been recommended to study for a doctoral degree in environmental design in South Korea, and the next step will be to implement the recommended undergraduate program for master's and doctoral programs in South Korea. At present, the college is actively promoting the Ministry of Education's 4+0 international cooperative education project with the University of Pomperfabra in Spain.

    7. Graduation destination

    Graduates majoring in environmental design have solid professional knowledge, strong hands-on practical skills, outstanding personal innovation ability, and a good sense of teamwork. The quality of employment has steadily improved, and their professional abilities and comprehensive qualities have been fully recognized by their peers both domestically and internationally. They have also received high praise from well-known enterprises, institutions, and employers both domestically and internationally. Mainly engaged in interior design, landscape design, architectural design, and design education in various universities and research units, large design companies, professional design departments, and design training institutions.

    We have established a homeroom teacher-counselor-employment guidance teacher responsibility and employment tracking system. In the past five years, the employment rate of graduates has been 97%, and the enrollment rate has been 8.0%. There are 40 master's and graduate students in the field of environmental design, of which 11 have been admitted to top tier universities such as 985 and 211, accounting for 60%.

    As one of the design majors with the widest range of employment development for students, the integration of engineering thinking and artistic creativity provides more employment opportunities for graduates majoring in environmental design. The environmental design major is based on the height of beauty and addresses the needs of living. Therefore, from an international metropolis to a beautiful countryside, there is a vast world for the development of environmental design. Graduates are based on their majors, building urban and rural areas, and laying a solid foundation for the development of the motherland and individuals. According to statistics, the three-year salary of graduates ranks among the top in various majors on campus, and the five-year entrepreneurship rate continues to grow, making it the best combination direction for understanding the economy, life, and art.
