The Department of Painting is one of the earliest teaching departments established in our college, and the major of painting is also a well-established major after the establishment of our college. The Department of Painting was first established in 2005 together with the College of Literature and Art Media, the predecessor of the School of Art. On this basis, the school successfully applied for the establishment of the Master's degree in Fine Arts in 2007, becoming one of the few universities in our province with the right to grant the master's degree in Fine Arts. In 2018, our college successfully applied for the master's degree in Art (Fine Arts), which further makes the painting major become the most important supporting major of the above two master's programs in our school, providing a good channel for undergraduate graduates of painting major to study. At present, there are 13 professional teachers in the department of painting, including 8 associate professors, 9 master supervisors, 3 who have obtained the doctor's degree, 7 who are studying for the doctor's degree. Teachers with senior titles account for 62%, and the doctoral rate is 77% (including studying). The proportion of senior teachers and the rate of Ph. D. in the same specialty in the province are among the best. In recent years, many teachers have been to Tsinghua University College of Fine Arts, Capital Normal University College of Fine Arts, China Academy of Fine Arts, Taipei Normal University College of Fine Arts and Florence Academy of Fine Arts in Italy and other domestic and foreign colleges and universities successfully visited, has a strong strength in teaching, scientific research and artistic creation of high-quality, high-level professional teachers.

    In recent years, the Painting Department has strictly implemented the policy of major enrollment and major diversion advocated by the school, seriously revised and implemented the new talent training program, implemented the reform of professional education and teaching, improved the management system of grassroots teaching organization, and made great efforts to promote the construction of grassroots teaching organization. Adhering to the student-oriented and student-centered education and teaching philosophy, the school has made remarkable achievements in personnel training, academic research, artistic creation and social service. The painting major always pays attention to the cultivation of students' painting art thinking and creative ability. It attaches equal importance to theoretical teaching and practical teaching, emphasizes the parallel training of traditional manual painting and modern computer application technology, and cultivates students' comprehensive knowledge and ability in painting creation, teaching and research. It is a high-level application-oriented professional talent in the new era who can independently engage in painting creation and teaching for the production and management departments of cultural and creative industries, enterprises and public institutions, as well as the operation and management of art related industries and art editing, with strong ability and high quality, innovative spirit and entrepreneurial consciousness, and adapt to the needs of economic and social development. At present, the painting major has two main directions: oil painting and Chinese painting, and also covers other painting categories such as printmaking, watercolor painting and illustration. There are many main courses such as human body sketch, character sketch, scenic spot sketch, history of Chinese and foreign art, Oil painting still life sketch, oil body sketch, Tampera painting techniques, fine brushwork flowers and birds, freehand landscape, freehand figures, freehand flowers and birds, water-based materials techniques and performance, black and white woodcutting, illustration, computer painting and so on.Painting graduates have rich professional knowledge, solid professional skills, strong practical ability, outstanding individual innovation ability, good sense of team cooperation, and steady improvement of employment quality.
